In this touching story, a Walmart cashier demonstrates that even when you’re short on time, a little kindness can go a long way.

Many people are extremely busy in the fourth quarter of the year. Holiday shopping creates a rush of people in stores.

An amazing thing happened when a lady named Spring Herbison Bowlin entered a local Walmart in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

Bowlin shared a photo on Facebook that quickly went viral for a simple deed of kindness.

“My heart was warmed at Wal-Mart during lunch.”

She came across an elderly man in the checkout line who was anxious to pay the bill.

A bunch of coins.

Bowlin was waiting behind a customer who became troubled as he tried to count the change in his pockets to pay for his groceries.

“This gentleman’s items were scanned and he was given the total,” she wrote in her Facebook post.

“He looks apologetically back at me and starts taking handfuls of change out of his pockets.”

He may have been worried that the customer behind him would become upset.

The old man tensely counted the change, looked behind him, mumbled “I’m so sorry,” and then began counting again.

Bowlin mentioned that the man’s hands and voice were shaking.

Instead of becoming irritated with the customer, the cashier did something that surprised Bowlin.

She took the man’s hands, tossed all the change on the counter, and told him,

“This is not a problem, honey. We will do this together.”

The man apologized to both the cashier and Bowlin, as the cashier assisted him in counting every cent. After they completed his transaction, he shuffled away.

Bowlin shared that she needed to say something, so she turned to the wonderful woman and said,

“Thank-you for being so patient with him.”

“Her humility when I thanked her was inspiring,” Bowlin told to ABC11.

“It wasn’t a big deal to her because that’s obviously just who she is.”

This amazing woman shakes her head and replies,

“You shouldn’t have to thank me, baby. What’s wrong with our world is we’ve forgotten how to love one another.”

This simple gesture of kindness has undoubtedly warmed the hearts of many others.
